”Lentissimo”
Acrylic on canvas, 2025
70 x 50 cm

The term lentissimo is an Italian musical expression indicating an extremely slow tempo.
It is a superlative form of lento (which means ”slow”) and directs musicians to play at the
slowest pace, often evoking a profound, calm, or solemn mood.

Lentissimo originates from the Italian language, which is deeply rooted in Latin. It
combines lento (from the Latin lentus, meaning ”slow” or ”sluggish”) with the suffix
-issimo, used in Italian to intensify the meaning, translating roughly to ”very slow” or ”the slowest”.

Lentissimo painting is slighlyt brighter live than in the pictures.

Please note: This artwork is currently on display at the Vapaakaupunki Gallery (Kalasatama, Helsinki) and will be shipped after the exhibition ends on May 6th.
